Lux et Libera: women at the intersection of light and chemistry is a new initiative that seeks to recognize the leading role that female-identifying artists play in the fields of film and alternative/historic process photography and to create new opportunities for them.
Lux et Libera was founded by photographer and educator
Dale Rio, who previously co-founded
The Halide Project, a non-profit dedicated to film and historic processes, and owns the print publication
Point A to Point B: analog explorations, which features artists exploring concepts of place using film and alternative/historic processes.
Our ultimate goal is a brick-and-mortar photography center, and as we work toward that goal, we will be organizing pop-up events and exhibitions.
